Sue holds a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Hazard Management from the Engineering Faculty of the University of Ballarat (now Federation University). She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Health and Safety, a Chartered Fellow of the Safety Institute of Australia Ltd, a Chartered Generalist Safety Professional, a Fellow of the Risk Management Institution of Australia and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is completing a Masters degree in Applied Science (OHS).

- Director (2014-2017) and Board Chair (2017 -2023) of a Public Hospital in Victoria; immediate past Chair of sub-regional health services’ Governance Committee (2017-2023);
- Honorary Life Governor – South Gippsland Hospital;

Peak body leadership
- Between 2008 and 2011 led the Victorian and National Divisions of the Safety Institute of Australia Inc. and was the inaugural Chair of the newly created Safety Institute of Australia Ltd from 2011 to 2013.
- The Board of the Safety Institute of Australia Ltd (2011 – 2013) obtained funding from Worksafe Victoria to enable the development of the OHS Body of Knowledge, it established the Australian OHS Education Accreditation Board and laid the foundations for the current processes for professional recognition and certification of OHS professionals.
- Chair, stream leader, facilitator and presenter at national and international professional conferences
- Developed and project managed ‘Project FRESH – OHS benchmarking in the Victorian Food Industry’ (Safety Development Fund project funded by Victorian Workcover Authority 2003 – 2006). The project engaged all major industry players, industry associations and unions and delivered a model for identification and sharing of best practice activities in risk control to drive continuous improvement through the industry. Proven solutions were made available to small businesses in the industry and a highly effective model for distribution of funding to small businesses was developed and executed.
